Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGAIL GILMOUR Leaving our hearts with the fondest of memories, the family of Gail Gilmour announces her passing at the age of 61. She passed away peacefully on February 25, 2000, with her family by her side after a spirited and courageous battle with cancer. Gail was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard; her parents Audley and Hazel Nicholls; her two sisters Marge Fox and Joy Palmer and sister-in-law Peggy Brydon. Left to cherish her memory are her son Jayson (Julie) her daughter Karen Chezick (Chris) three grandchildren very precious to their grandmother, Jayce and Kassandra Gilmour, and Kennedy Chezick; special niece Alma Cantin and family; nephew Al Palmer and family; niece Donna McKenzie and family. Left, too, brother-in-law Willie Brydon, brother-in-law Bob Gilmour (Shirley) sister-in-law Opal Miller (Floyd) and brother-in-law Reg Palmer. There were also many other nieces and nephews, and cousins who were very special to Gail. Gail was born on April 16, 1938 and grew up in McGregor, Manitoba. Gail started her teaching career in 1957, teaching ten grades in a one room school in Carmen, Manitoba. In 1958 she married Howard and they moved to Winnipeg. She continued on with her teaching career at Issac Brock where she taught grade one until 1963. In 1963 they moved to Pinawa, Manitoba where she enjoyed many years of teaching until her retirement in 1995. Gail was a very gifted teacher who dedicated many hours of her own time ensuring her classroom was exciting and inviting for all her students. Those who knew her well, knew that summer holidays ended August 1 as it was time to get back to school to get ready for the upcoming year. Gail truly treasured her husband, her children and grandchildren, her teaching, and all her children from school. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 29 at F.W. Gilbert School to celebrate Gails life. A private interment will be held on August 9, 2000 at the Pinawa cemetery. The family wishes to thank palliative care, nurse Myrna Klassen, Dr.Opie, Dr. Reich, Dr. Dubrowska, the nurses at Pinawa Hospital, the homecare ladies, Thelma, Verna and all the friends and family for their support. If friends so desire donations may be made to the the Manitoba Cancer Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 9Z9 or the St. Boniface Hospital.
